My dad has been by my side in everything I had ever wanted to do. I love to play volleyball, but like everyone else, I have strong points and weak points. He helps me train and make my weak points stronger because he is also an athlete. He knows what it’s like to work and fail. His experiences and advice help me to do better when I make mistakes. Without him, I wouldn’t be as strong of an athlete as I am now.
Today, I always look for a positive aspect of a situation. I learned to do this from my dad. He always gives me good advice on what to do in a difficult situation. My dad has been through a lot of different experiences so he has a lot of different stories. Each story he tells comes with a lesson or good advice to help me do better. I have learned a lot of valuable life lessons from my dad’s stories. Without those stories, I probably would have made some wrong choices down the road in my past. I’m thankful to have a dad like my dad.
I look up to my dad because he has a lot of responsibilities. He has to deal with his work and family, but he also has to exercise and keep himself healthy. My dad has decided to do an Ironman in Lake Placid of summer 2010. I think it’s really amazing that my dad can just make a decision and train himself to do the world’s longest triathlon at age 48. He really believes that age is just a number and that it should have no affect on his hopes and dreams. I admire this about him because someday I want to do an Ironman just like him. I hope I’ll have just as much determination and strength as my dad.
I can’t imagine what my life would be like to grow up without my dad. He’s always there to help me do better and make good decisions. I am always told to keep working to make myself stronger. I don’t think I would have ever listened to my dad if he didn’t take his own advice. My dad is always working and training to prepare himself for his ironman and any other challenges that get thrown at him. I think my dad makes a really great role model because he has had more affect on my life than anyone else and he’s constantly making good choices. I want to grow up and be just like my dad.
